Faith in Prayer – What happens when your faith fails?

Faith in prayerYou might say, how could my faith fail me?

That’s just not possible! But Jesus told Simon (Peter) behold Satan desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for you that your faith fail not (Luke 22:31-32). A failing faith is possible and Jesus knew it.  Jesus asked the question, “When the Son of man comes, will he find faith in the earth (Luke 18:8)?” Jesus prayed not that Satan would leave Peter alone, stay away from him, or not sift him as wheat, instead; He prayed, that regardless of what Satan tries to do to Peter, Peter’s faith would not quit.

When your faith fails, this is as if the bottom drops out

This is where; worry steps in, intimidation steps in, fear steps in, doubt steps in, defeat steps in and eventually you give into your situations and limitations. Your confidence in God is shaken and His ability to accomplish His divine plan, diminishes, and life flows downhill from there.

Jesus knew how important it was, for Peter’s faith to be secure

If you consider a house for example; its foundation is firm and steady, but this does not mean that the house will not be shaken by natural disasters, simply because, its foundation is secure. It will be shaken. However, the house will remain standing once it is able to withstand the pressure of the storm beating against it. The same with Faith, Peter’s faith might have been shaken and tested, but failing, NO. Jesus saw the well-orchestrated, determined plan of the devil to not only attack Peter, but a fully conceived plot to destroy him. The attack on Peter was not only against him, but on the very purpose to which God had called him and the body of Christ at large.

How many times did you buckle under pressure and fall prey to the devils’ devices and deceptions?

Peter denied Jesus and was overtaken with guilt and shame, as he cried bitterly (Luke 22:56- 62). Jesus knew what was going to happen to Peter and He provided all Peter needed to keep his faith standing. Jesus knows everything that you and I will face and the good thing is, he has already made a way of escape. He has won the victory. Don’t treat your failures, short-comings or mistakes, like they take God by surprise. Jesus made provisions for your weaknesses. Don’t think because you might have failed in a situation, that your faith has failed. Your faith is already secured in Jesus’ finished work. It is not your righteousness that you stand in, but his. He made you righteous the day you believed in Him. Your faith is the most powerful thing that you use to access God. Do not take your faith lightly. The devil wants to shatter your faith, pull you away from God and ultimately destroy you. There is nothing that you can do to stop God’s love from coming to you and your faith works by love. Therefore, strengthen your faith by being secure in God’s love. There is no situation too peculiar or unusual in anyway that your faith cannot work in.

Jesus did not count Peter out, when he made a mistake

Jesus knew that Peter’s faith will propel him to greater heights, than the depths his failure could ever sink him into. Don’t forget, it was this same Peter who received the revelation that Jesus was the Christ the Son of the living God. Peter was the one who stood up on the day of Pentecost to defend the Pentecost experience, that many Jews and devout Christians thought was strange (Acts 2:1-22). It was Peter who was used by the Holy Spirit to convert and baptize Cornelius (Acts 10:1-47). Peter was not perfect, but he became one of the prominent apostles in his time and made astounding contributions to the building of the early church. Not only was Peter’s faith restored and fortified; it was also strong enough to strengthen the brethren.

Get back on the faith train

If by chance your faith has failed, simply ask Jesus to help you and He will. His love never fails and never gives up on you. For those of you who have experienced struggles I pray that your faith does not fail you, regardless of what you are facing today, pray in faith believing. God hears the prayer of faith. You might feel just as 2 Corinthians 4:8 describes; “Hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” You are more than conquerors with Jesus on your side, so get up, dust yourself off, and get right back on the faith train.

Should you Give Up, Cave in and Quit?

Never Stop believingWe have been dealing these past few weeks with faith and believing God as we pray daily and trust Him for our breakthrough.

How many times have you given up on praying for someone, something or a situation because you did not receive an answer, a breakthrough or see the fulfillment of what you were praying for? In many cases, it seems like the heavens were brass and nothing was happening, so you provided your own answer or came to your own conclusion.

Well, we have all been in this place before and as long as there is life, there will always be grounds of victory to cover, because we are moving from one level of life to another. So be encouraged today, you are not alone. The enemy’s plan for you is to give up, cave in and altogether quit on God’s plan, so that you never see the fulfillment of the promises in the specific areas you are believing for.

Consider Abraham, without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead and his wife Sarah’s body was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God (Rom 4:19-20). You see, this is our problem, when the facts stare us in the face, we have nothing to stare back with. So, it hits us off our feet and engulfs our minds and before we know it, we are caught in a web of unbelief and doubt so strong that we cannot cut ourselves free and this causes us to give up, cave in, and quit. The doctors might say, you have one month to live or there is cancer or some disease in your body, what will you do then? Take up the shield of faith and declare what the word says about your condition. Don’t be so quick to believe the facts that you ignore the truth. Don’t be dismayed or discouraged that you cave in and quit on the promise.

God did not put promises in the word so we could have a great historical lesson on his past supernatural abilities. He is the ancient of days but he is not ancient in ways. What he did then, he is well able to do now, with relevance and precision. Like Abraham, come into agreement with God’s word and you will never regret the results. Do not stop praying because you’ve been on it for five months, five years and nothing happened. Arm yourself with the word, get the doubt and unbelief out and get back on the word train. It may take longer, but you will get there and by the time you do, your faith would be stronger and your testimony powerful.

The greatest thing about this faith walk, is that it is not your job to figure out how everything is going to happen. As you do your daily prayer, your job is to pray, obey and say what God’s word says and leave the results to God.

Never give up on God’s promises for you, don’t cave in, in fear and never quit believing that his promises are yes and amen.

Prayer requires your faith`

Prayer requires your faithEPh 1:13-14
Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promise Holy Spirit. Who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession.

It does not matter what you are praying about, you must exercise and release your faith in order to receive what God has promised you.

You cannot receive the promise Holy Spirit until you believe. The very foundation of our Christian experience is based on believing Jesus. This is necessary for us to access the fullness of Christ in the kingdom of God. Your faith cannot be based on carnal things only, because it will be shaken, nothing in this world lasts forever. God’s word has been proven to be stable and trust worthy. There is always going to be something that happens to test the integrity of the system or the thing and they will all prove to be shakable. Nothing in life is a 100% full proof.

What you are facing today that is keeping you down, making you worried, depressed, hurt, angry or sad? keep this in mind it has an expiration date! The sooner you and I learn to take God at his word and just believe against all odds. Speak life and not death regardless. We will experience breakthrough like never before. “Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:16-17).” Since its the Father’s pleasure to give you good gifts and the keys to the kingdom, why not take advantage of it and access all the amazing blessings God has in store for you.

Join me in reading the word and discovering the unsearchable riches of God.

Pray – Speak TO your mountain not ABOUT your Mountain

mount-ranier-mount-features-2Keep speaking faith filled words and believe that whatever you say, you will have it.

Mark 9:23 (NIV) If you can Jesus said, “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Mark 10:27 (NIV) Jesus looked at them (his disciples) and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible God.

Mark 11:23-24(NIV)

Truly I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, ad it will be yours.

Matthew 21:21 – 22(NIV)

Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was don to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Whatever, you are believing God for today, stand on his word with confidence. I am believing God to accomplish some great things that he has already revealed to me, and his word has already confirmed that He will do it. Therefore, my faith is rooted in his word, my confidence is established in the substance of his word because they have great recompense of rewards.

Jesus is not moved by our many prayers, crying and wailing, or well articulated words, he is moved when we simply believe him. Instead of allowing your heart to be filled with fear, let God’s love dwell in your heart, and that love will cast out all fear. God does what he does because he loves us so, so much. He is always willing to answer our prayers.

So pray with confidence, pray without doubt, don’t get caught up with the timing, his timing is always perfect, only believe, and wait for the answer.

Be blessed.

Faith in prayerPrayer focus for the week

Jesus asked his disciples, “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth (Luke18:8)?” Look all around and you will see, that this generation has more faith in the natural occurrences than in God. Jesus said in Mark 11:22 “Have faith in God”.

Faith forms the foundation of our Christian experience

According to Heb.11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” All our praying will be in vain, when we pray in unbelief, because we are trying to gain access to God’s resources without the currency of the kingdom and that is faith. Jesus makes mention of a faithless generation simply because man has drifted from faith in God to faith in systems. Faith is not based on what the natural eye can see and the mind can understand, the basis of faith is God. In him all things consist that which is visible and invisible. Therefore, we will not be disappointed when we place all our confidence in God. This is definitely a place where we can put all our eggs in one basket and not be afraid.

 Your faith is tested daily

Sometimes it may feel like you are lacking in faith in some situations or at a certain point in your life. This is the point where, Jude admonishes you to build yourself up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit (Jude 20 ). Praying in the Spirit builds your faith in God.  The inner man is made stronger and being renewed day by day. Wouldn’t you prefer to be strong in your inner being, so you are empowered to live victoriously? Yes, everyone wants live victorious lives, no one wants to be defeated all the time. Then start building up your faith and confidence in God.

Practice praying in the spirit daily

Pray in the spirit anytime, whether; during devotions in the morning, taking a shower, preparing meals, traveling on the road, facing financial crisis, fighting sicknesses and diseases or facing a situation that you need wisdom for.  Pray in the spirit before you are required to respond to anything. Ask God to reveal the mystery that you may have absolutely no clue about, to enlighten your understanding about the situation.

Build up your faith in the word by Feeding yourself with the bread of life daily

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Rom. 10:17). Hearing the word day in and day out makes the difference in your belief system. God cannot be separated from his word. From the beginning God created the heavens and the earth by his spoken word. John 1:1- 3 says; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” What God said, is exactly  what God meant. He is true to his word and He will honor it.  We are given a choice to either believe it or refuse it. Good sense says; believe the word- it works, it is forever settled in heaven and established in the earth.

Deliberately put the word in your ear, and eye gates daily, the same way you put the media broadcast in. Do not neglect times in the word. Give God’s word priority in your daily life. Let the word of Christ dwell richly in you in all wisdom, then flow out of you in various streams of life (Col 3:16). It will produce wonderful life changing results. You owe it to yourself to be word informed!

We can never understand how important the expression of our faith is, until we are faced with a situation that demands the exercise of our faith.

In the meanwhile, start building your faith, do not wait until something happens to throw you off guard, before you begin to strengthen your faith. Do not rely on past experiences and past knowledge of the word, put yourself in remembrance of the word daily, so when times of testing comes and they are going come, you will be equipped to handle anything with the word in your mouth and God on your side.

 Be blessed.

Just Believe!

Like Mary and Martha only believe

John 11:40

Jesus told Martha, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God.”

Mary and Martha were hurting and grieving after their brother Lazarus had died. The sisters sent word to Jesus, requesting his presence while their brother was sick, but still alive. Lazarus, was no doubt very good friend of Jesus, he was probably in the prime of his manhood, but became sick and eventually died. Jesus received the message, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” Jesus response was, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it (John 11:4).”

Jesus knowing Lazarus was sick, stayed where he was two more days! He did not seem to be in a hurry to get to Lazarus. Jesus was not in a panic to get to Lazarus before he died so his word might be true. Jesus then journeyed to Judea, to minister to Lazarus and his sisters, although it was dangerous to go there. Jesus first demonstrate faith in going back to a place where the Jews wanted to kill him. He also knew that Lazarus was dead.

why would Jesus wait two days later, knowing very well Lazarus would be dead by the time he got there. In fact Jesus did not even need to go to Lazarus he only needed to speak the word and Lazarus would be healed or raised up.

Now, Jesus did not operate on worldly concepts and principles. He was led by his Father in heaven. In his mind, what is consider as death to humans is a state sleeping to him. His plan was to deliberately demonstrate the power of God. As He told Martha, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” This restoration of Lazarus was done so that the people would know that Jesus was sent by God and they would also see the glory of God. The effect was so powerful that those who saw Lazarus raised from  the dead knew that this was no ordinary man, because Lazarus was so dead he stunk, this undeniable action caused the people to place their trust in Jesus Christ.

There are some things we can learn from this:

Jesus loving Lazarus and being close to his family did not exempt them from earthly troubles affecting them, even the inevitable death. Sometimes we have this myth, that as long as we are walking in right before God we should not have any troubles, or we should live above troubles, but this is far from the truth. How will God demonstrate his glory in our situation if there is nothing to work with. The presence of trouble is not the absence of God’s presence but the opportunity for God’s majestic power to work on our behalf. You are not the only who wants likes a show off, God does too. He actually loves it better than we do. He loves to show himself strong on the behalf of the righteous.

Earnest Prayer – Powerful Results

James 5:16

The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

Prayer Nuggets

Pray in the Spirit and keep on praying for all the saints. Many times we take prayer for granted and never realize the power that it holds when we simply believe God.

Pray for anything and everything, God never gets tired and nothing is too little or too big for him to handle.

Praise God for his faithfulness, his provision of grace and his mercy that brings us into a wonderful relationship with him. He is loving toward all he has made and desires to be in fellowship and relationship with his creation.

Never allow fear to control your prayer life. Don’t allow fear to fill your prayers, expressing more confidence in the situation than in God. Fear and faith cannot work together one must take over, the one that does is the one you nurture. Build faith in the living word of God, because you must know that God is your ever present help in times of trouble.

Speak WORDS of life

Speak words of Life!

PROV 12:14. From the fruit of their lips people are filled with good things, and the work of their hands bring them reward.

Those who speak life will reap life, those who speak wisely will reap a good harvest from their words, just as a farmer enjoys the harvest of his crops from the labor he put out.

The importance of speaking words of life is that those words released in the atmosphere will produce something. According to the bible, death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat the fruit thereof (Prov 18:21). You determine the destiny of those words and the words will determine the destiny of your life. The words we speak are either death or life, blessing or cursing. Don’t speak negatively to everything and expect positive things to follow. It really doesn’t work that way. Many of us really don’t believe that we have creative power in our tongues just as God spoke and created the earth. Mark 11:23 says you will have whatsoever you say. So if this is true then we need to make some changes in our prayer and our speech.

I want to challenge you to put a watch over your mouth, put a guard over your words, become responsible for what comes out of your mouth. Never allow things to be blurted out irresponsibly every time you become angry, depressed, hurt or disturbed. Eph 4:29 says “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your [my] mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Your words should benefit you and those who listen to you. What you say could alter the future and outcome of many things in your life. Someone said if you want to change your life first change your words. Your God given creative power is in your words, therefore, use it wisely.

What are you speaking today that could change your life forever? Let the fruit of your lips synchronize with the work of your hands to produce good things and bring you great rewards.
